I think one of the most interesting graphs I've published all year is this one from "Capitalizing on Content," a white paper I researched in conjunction with OpenText. These are the median estimates of productivity gains, customer SLAs, knowledge-worker productivity, employee engagement, etc, from over 300 survey responses. Rather than just taking the overall average, I split the result into those who have ECM systems in use, and those who are planning or implementing onbe. So when we look at workflow productivity, for example, we see that the results exceed the expectations by a substantial amount, whereas customer service is identical, and if anything, people tend to slightly overestimate the benefits from content access and searchability, and remote access, but project collaboration and delivery performs well. Having said that, all of the numbers are coming out in the 20-25% region - a massive plus for ECM.
