I am considering a very limited experiment with sponsorships for the Digital Landfill site to help offset some costs and get a bit of extra help on my 8 things project.
Sponsors will get "Google like" positioning on both the blog home page and within posts, although frankly I hope it will be a little less intrusive than Adwords. Just text, and labeled as a sponsored link.
You can get some ideas by the screen shots to the left and below.
I don't want to make this overly complicated pricing will likely be a flat amount per quarter or month. If you want to explore in more detail, email me at johnmancini@aiim.org or direct tweet me at jmancini77 and I'll send you some info.
A challenge in determining the value of this sponsorship to you is that blog readership and authority are somewhat difficult things to measure. Measures exist for email blasts and for web sites, but a blog is actually a combination of the two -- both a destination and a communications platform. It is also a platform for thought leadership and customer and prospect dialogue.
So I would suggest you evaluate the Digital Landfill sponsorship proposition as an opportunity for visibility and branding within the leading blog in the content management space, and that you consider these 4 metrics.
- Authority -- Per Technorati (as of January 21, 2010), Digital Landfill is the leading blog in terms of authority in the document, content, and records management space with a rank of 495.
- # of regular subscribers -- Per Feedburner, Digital Landfill has 2,610 regular and totally opted-in subscribers (50% e-mail, 50% via RSS feeds)
- # of views from the feed -- Per Feedburner, Digital Landfill had 148,099 views from the feed over the last 6 months of 2009, or an average of 813 per day.
- # of views on the blog web site itself -- Per Google Analytics, Digital Landfill had an additional 59,118 views on the web site itself from 30,045 unique visitors over the last six months of 2009.
