Well, the Info360 event (formerly the AIIM Expo and Conference) is just a couple of weeks away, and I'm getting the usual set of questions about the event. I thought I would use a few blog posts over the next week to answer some of them.
Q. What is Info360? What is AIIM's role in this event?
A. A lot of people don't realize that AIIM (the Association) sold AIIM (the Show) to a for profit event organizer (at the time, Advanstar Communications) in 2002. Since that time, we (AIIM "the Association") have been a sponsor and supporter of the Show, but we no longer run it or own it. Last year, the owners of the AIIM and On Demand events (Questex, created by a management buyout of part of Advanstar a few years back) decided to position the AIIM side in a bit more expansive and encompassing fashion, hence the Info360 branding. Probably more than you wanted to know!
Q. Are you giving an ECM state of industry keynote this year?
A. Yes. The keynotes are going to be in different places from the last time the Show was in Philly. This time, the AIIM and On Demand sides will be having separate keynotes, so they won't be in the big room above the former train tracks that some of you may remember. The On Demand keynotes will be in Room 204A-C. The AIIM keynotes will be in the Lecture Hall, Room 114. Mine is from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning (the 31st). All are welcome, not just Conference attendees.
A. I'm going to do something a little different this year. I'm going to key off the cover story from the Infonomics magazine that will be released at the Show. The cover story is by noted Washingtonian Magazine editor Garrett Graff and focuses on the role that Web 2.0 and content management technologies played in the Obama campaign. I'll expand on a couple of Garrett's themes, and then talk about the lessons learned from this effort and how they apply not only to a political campaign, but also to commercial implementations. I think the lessons learned also tell us a lot about the state of the industry -- and its future. [Now that I've put this intention into electrons, I guess I'll need to stick to it and start preparing it!]
Q. Can I get a copy of the presentation?
A. Yes, will be making a link available from the AIIM web site and from this blog. We'll also be releasing our State of the ECM Industry survey at the same time.
Q. What other keynotes will there be on the Info360 side?
A. Info360 keynote sessions will be going on all three days in the Lecture Hall, Room 114. Speakers include John Stenbit (former CIO at DoD), two moderated CIO end-user panels (one by Robert Shimp from Oracle and one by Whitney Tidmarsh from EMC), Andrew Lippman (founding associate director of the MIT Lab), Kurt DelBene (Microsoft), and Rishi Chandra (Google Enterprise). Details can be found at THIS LINK.
