At a basic level, most organizations report a distinct lack of confidence in their information management systems -- a particular concern given the criticality of these systems to both risk avoidance and process effectiveness. When asked to evaluate the state of their information management systems on a scale of 1 ("terrible") to 10 ("excellent"), 33% report results of 4 or less -- hardly a ringing endorsement of their competency.
